Quotes of the Week in Italian Football: "He needs a special translator only for him."

This week we have quotes by Antonio Conte, Alessandro Matri, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Rino Gattuso, Alexandre Pato, Aurelio De Laurentiis and Roberto Mancini.

Antonio Conte of Juventus thinks discussion of a Juve-Milan showdown is too premature:

«Se dovesse durare il testa a testa Juve-Milan vorrebbe dire che avremmo fatto qualcosa di straordinario. Sinceramente trovo prematuro fare determinati discorsi. È inevitabile che se dovesse accadere significherebbe che noi avremmo fatto qualcosa di straordinario, perchè non dimentichiamo mai da dove arriviamo. Dobbiamo essere orgogliosi di quello che abbiamo realizzato in poco tempo. Però aggiungo che a dicembre non si è fatto niente, bisogna vedere dove e come si arriva a maggio». {Corriere dello Sport}

"If I had to endure a head-to-head with Juve-Milan, I'd want to say that we did something extraordinary. Sincerely, I find it premature to have this type of talk. It's inevitable that if it happened, it would mean that we did something extraordinary. Because let's never forget where we came. We have to be proud of what we've accomplished in a brief time. But I add that you haven't done anything in December. You have to see where and how you arrive in May."

Alessandro Matri of Juventus welcomes the arrival of another striker, Marco Borriello:

«Non mi preoccupa il suo arrivo. È un attaccante in più, è un rinforzo in più per noi, che ci permette di arrivare alla fine di questo campionato ben attrezzati. Si aggregherà ad un gruppo di attaccanti ben composto. Siamo tanti davanti? Siamo come tutte le altre squadre, siamo in cinque., sei, sette…» {Corriere dello Sport}

"I'm not worried about his arrival. He's an extra striker, an added reinforcement for us, that allows us to arrive at the end of the championship well equipped. He'll add to a well-formed group of attackers. They are five, six, seven of us..."

Zlatan Ibrahimovic of AC Milan gave a hint about his future from winter training in Dubai:

"Sì, spero di essere in attività ancora per due o tre anni. Poi vediamo che cosa succederà in futuro. Tutto è possibile. Dobbiamo solo aspettare e vedere. Penso che fare l'allenatore sia una grossa responsabilità e quindi è più semplice essere un giocatore". "E' molto probabile -ha dichiarato Ibrahimovic a 'Sportbladet'- Anche se in precedenza avevo detto di no". {Corriere dello Sport and Sportbladet}

"Yes, I hope to play for two or three more years. Then we'll see what will happen in the future. Anything is possible. We have to wait and see. I think being a manager is a big responsibility. Therefore, it's easier to be a player. It's very probable (to be a coach). Even if before I said no."

Rino Gattuso of AC Milan described his difficult recovery from an eye-nerve problem that kept him sidelined until the Dubai friendly v. PSG:

La cosa più difficile in questi mesi è stata affrontare il quotidiano. Non è facile svegliarsi la mattina e vederci triplo o quadruplo. La mia famiglia e i miei amici mi hanno dato la serenità giusta e mi sono sempre stati vicini. Il Milan è come la mia famiglia. Nella mia carriera ho fatto cose buone e meno buone, ma la società mi ha sempre aiutato tanto". {Corriere dello Sport}

"The most difficult thing in these months was to face each day. It wasn't easy to wake up every morning to see three or four images. My family and friends gave me the right serenity and were always close to me. Milan is like my family. In my career, I've done good and bad things, but the Milan organization has always helped me a great deal."

Alexandre Pato of AC Milan saw an old friend in Dubai but remained elusive about his rossoneri future:

"Ho salutato Ancelotti, come era giusto e normale che fosse ma non abbiamo parlato di mercato, Voi sapete meglio di me la situazione, visto che lo avete scritto sui giornali...". {Corriere dello Sport}

"I said hello to Ancelotti as was proper and normal but we didn't speak of the transfer market. You (journalists) know the situation better than I seeing what you've written in the papers."

Aurelio De Laurentiis, owner of Napoli, dares to dream and praises his manager, Walter Mazzarri:

"Non dimentichiamo da dove siamo partiti, è lecito sognare, ma restiamo sempre con i piedi per terra...Mazzarri è una forza della natura, è estremamente coinvolto nel lavoro che fa. Pensa soltanto a quello e fa benissimo. Lo apprezzo tanto, condivido questa sua incisiva concentrazione". {Gazzetta dello Sport}

"Let's not forget where we came from. It was fine to dream but let's always keep our feet on the ground. Walter Mazzarri is a force of nature. He's extremely involved in his work. He only thinks about that and does very well. I appreciate him a great deal. I share his incisive concentration."

Roberto Mancini of Manchester City thinks that Mario Balotelli needs a special translator:

"Balotelli è davvero una persona strana: è un bravo ragazzo, è gentile, ma non lo capisco e a volte mi sembra di aver bisogno di un traduttore speciale solo per lui”. {Gazzetta dello Sport}

"Balotelli is really a strange person. He's a great lad, he's kind, but I don't understand him. And at times, it seems to me that he needs a special translator only for him."
